Publishing and Scientific Writing

This course was specially designed for PhD students and researchers and aims at promoting the development of transversal skills, particularly those concerned with the publishing and scientific writing processes.

The main goals are:

  • to enable participants to publish articles in a more successful way by developing a more systematic process of writing and by doing the most appropriate choice of the journal to publish in, taking into account its content and impact among the scientific community;
  • to train participants in the peer-review process, especially in the review and correction of articles. The course is structured in six sequential modules that replicate the writing process of a scientific article, starting with its context and going through the whole process until the final stage of dissemination.
It may be integrated into study plans of programmes (thus replacing optional training units) or attended as a continuing education unit and will be offered twice per academic year (each semester).

O curso tem documentos sobretudo em Inglês (nível A2 do Cambridge Institute).
É um curso livre sem prazos ou horários de frequência.
Estima-se uma duração de trabalho individual total de cerca de 60 horas — se fizer o caso de estudo do módulo 4 o total estimado é de 150 horas. É composto por 4 módulos independentes com duração idêntica aproximada. O curso é totalmente online.
As questões podem ser colocadas aos tutores do curso.
Os recursos a utilizar e as propostas de tarefas estão indicados em cada módulo.
Não há avaliação da aprendizagem, mas apenas tarefas opcionais destinadas aos participantes que queiram  complementar a aprendizagem.
